Languages shape our understanding of the world, enabling us to connect, share ideas, and express emotions. Likewise, literature as time capsules of human experience, preserve wisdom and cultures, mirrors society, provokes thoughts, and challenges norms. At Vidya Valley, languages and literature are integral to a child’s academic journey, celebrated through a week of games and activities called ‘Lit Fests’ for both junior and senior sections. This article focuses on the Junior Lit Fest held from August 1st to 7th, coinciding with the birthday of the Hon'ble Principal, Mrs Nalini Sengupta.
This year’s theme was ‘The Olympics,’ featuring crosswords, worksheets, and Olympic-themed rewards. For grades 1 to 3, several parent volunteers and a special guest,Mrs. Sherline Pimenta, K, conducted various literature games, activities, and a special storytelling session. For grades 4 to 7, talented guests such as Mrs Suvarna Shinde, Mrs Sneha Devarhubli, Mrs Rachna Lakhera, Mrs Vivek Pasta, Mrs Somya Rajendran, and Mrs Pallavi Dantale led activities like folktale narration, storytelling, and book cover making etc.
The exuberant energy of the children was delightful to witness. Their pure joy and imagination uplifted the spirits of the entire school. Their giggles filled the hallways, confirming that children bring a school to life. Their contagious imagination made it seem as if the school itself was brought to life. “It was an amazing experience,” said Radhika Daga, a parent volunteer.
In summary Vidya Valley’s Lit fest, is a festival that celebrates the beauty of language and literature in a mesmerizing way.
