Any morning in Vidya Valley School, if one heads down towards the taekwondo room, they are guaranteed to find students practicing and mastering the sport of taekwondo. They tirelessly kick, punch, yell and put in hours of effort. This same hard-work along with immense dedication and discipline, has won our school numerous medals at the CISCE taekwondo matches that took place on the 24th of August, in Vidya Valley School.
Schools from Zones E and F were participants in this competition, with the weight categories ranging from under 25 to above 81kgs, and the age categories reaching till under-19. An especially remarkable feat was the entire under-17 taekwondo team bagging gold medals and our under-14 team also cinching a total of 13 medals – four golds, six silvers and three bronzes. Our players also displayed great speed and skill, many of them securing victory in under a minute. These matches not only displayed talent and commitment, but also exhibited teamwork and strength in every move the athletes made on the mat.
Vidya Valley also used newer technology, conducting matches using ESS and EPS which stimulates international platforms. This ensured the fairness of the scoring and helped in ensuring the smooth functioning of the event. A large event like this too, would not have been possible without the efforts put in by the staff of Vidya Valley. We had student volunteers too, who aided mainly in the prize distribution and photography. A huge mention to Arvind Sir, who trained them every step of the way. Our players would not have reached where they are today, without his support and guidance.
Every match had the audience on the edge of their seats and every point scored resulted in loud cheers from the enthusiastic audience present. Out of all the participants, 16 players in total qualified for regionals, the next level of matches, which are scheduled to take place on the 2 nd of October. Together, our team came together, gave their 100% and made our school proud with every move they made. A hearty congratulations to all our winners and wishing the best of luck to our regionals players.
