What does it take to solve a global crisis? Is it power, persuasion, or the ability to listen? At the Diplomat MUN conference held at Vidya Valley School, students explored these very questions as they represented nations, debated international issues, and worked together to draft meaningful solutions. More than just a competition, the conference was a centre of diplomacy, critical thinking, and collaboration.
An epitome of debate, the Diplomat Model United Nations (DMUN) took place on 11th and 12th of July 2026. Students across grades 6 to 10 were given a chance to participate. The conference consisted of four committees – The United Nations Security Council (UNSc), The Special Political and Decolonisation Committee (SPECPOL), The Human Rights Council (UNHRC), and The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The conference commenced on the first morning with the Opening Ceremony, where students showcased their creative talent with music. Speeches by the officials from Diplomat MUN made a lasting impact on the audience. Debates for each council and committee took place, supervised by a Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson. Through speeches, moderated and unmoderated caucuses, and committee discussions, the delegates strengthened their public speaking and negotiation skills while learning to defend their positions with well-researched evidence.
The second day focused on letting the delegates of various nations come together and find a peaceful solution to the national problem at hand. Students were asked to create a “Draft Resolution” or treaty, for every council. The conference concluded with the Award Ceremony, where delegates who had demonstrated exceptional skill were recognised for their outstanding performances.
The Diplomat Model United Nations 2026 was far more than a platform for debate – it was an opportunity for students to grow as confident speakers, critical thinkers, and responsible global citizens. As delegates stepped out of their committee rooms for the final time, they carried with them not only certificates and awards, but also invaluable lessons in the power of meaningful dialogue. The conference truly embodied the spirit of the United Nations, proving that every voice has the potential to inspire change.
